A concept of life understood by a naive mind is that we die with our names. But that’s what animals do, they die nameless. The modern inhabitants of this world can become story teller of their minds by turning their thoughts into words. These words could freely survive on cyber database through Facebook pages, Twitter handles and other social accounts. And coming generations could learn about our way to think and interact with people of different backgrounds and mindsets on public forums. The words based on logic and saneness will be remembered and quoted with our names in future cyber arena. That’s why history books were written in ancient times so that characters mentioned in those books could stay alive for future life. It is worth mentioning that the books have influenced the mind and heart of people because experience of reading a book is like sitting in a time travel machine. They use to learn about how to face and handle different situations in life that usually take sixty years to learn through actual life experiences.
We know this is a cyber-age, gadgets and media outlets are becoming more accessible to common people. There are more opportunities for people to globally spread their opinions based on factual knowledge. And there is no doubt in saying that cyber world can become a source to peacefully resist the irrationality, dogmas and bigotry in the society. The words of rational mindset can remove the hard crust of primeval ignorance on the naive minds. That’s why we need more storytellers and bloggers who can explain in simple words about trends of modern world. There is a strong need especially in Pakistani society to develop and stimulate the virtue of individual and collective self-criticism. Therefore all the wise men and women should be encouraged to contribute in uplifting the society by becoming a storyteller. Express the life experiences and share them in discussions; this will surely generate a society which is self-aware of its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
While writing above passages, I was thinking about what sparked me to write my mind. The only voice that echoed in my imagination, was the quote of Mark Twain
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
This quotation justified my idea that what else could be the best way to travel other than cyber world, free and fast. It’s very simple to understand that cyber world has allowed us to travel and engage with anyone from anywhere on our planet. And cyber database like the Facebook or Twitter profiles have become the point of view of our whole life. Now some kid of next generation can stumble upon our profile and can read what was written by a man in 2016. So think before what we write, people will learn from cyber texts before making any opinions about our mind and identity.
Become story teller because the words will survive and they will travel.
